Terms & Conditions
These terms apply when you register for, or later take part in, the free Ramadan 2027 challenge. Registration and participation are completely free. No purchase or contribution is required.
1. About Test the Ummah
Test the Ummah is a free Islamic knowledge challenge planned for Ramadan 2027. This website is the registration site for that challenge. It is run as a not-for-profit community project. It is not a registered charity, and it does not claim Gift Aid or other charity tax relief.
Test the Ummah operates this website at testtheummah.com. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean Test the Ummah. For a general enquiry or support, email testtheummah@gmail.com.
2. Purpose of the challenge
The challenge is for discovery, reflection and learning about Islam. It is there to help you notice what you already know, where you may want to learn more, and subjects you might not have looked for on your own.
Friendly rankings, if they are added, are for enjoyment and motivation. They are not the main purpose. The challenge is not an examination, and it is not a judgement of anyone’s faith.
3. Who can take part
The registration form does not ask for your date of birth, and it does not check an age. It is intended for someone who can agree to these terms for themselves. If the law where you live says a parent or guardian must agree for you, please get that permission before you register.
We do not knowingly want registration details from a child under 13. The form does not apply a minimum age. See the children’s section of the Privacy Notice.
4. Registration and email verification
To register you give your name, country, city, town, state or region, and email address, and you accept these terms. We email you a verification link. In the current configuration that link lasts 48 hours and works once. We store a hash of the link, not the link itself. Your place is confirmed after you verify.
After verification we send a confirmation email. We also expect to email you as Ramadan approaches with what you need for Day 1. Those messages are part of the challenge service. Accepting these terms does not subscribe you to promotional emails.
The registration forms do not include a marketing checkbox. Registration does not automatically subscribe you to promotional emails. Necessary verification and challenge messages are separate from marketing. If you opted in to optional news on an earlier form, that earlier record is kept as it was. Optional campaigns stay switched off until they are separately enabled. You can unsubscribe from optional emails without cancelling your registration, using the link in a message that includes one.
5. Accurate information
Please register with details that are true and with an email address you can open. We keep one registration for each email address. A second attempt with the same address does not create another record or another public count. If the first attempt is still unverified, we can send a fresh verification link instead.
The form includes a hidden field that people are not asked to fill in. Submissions that fill it are rejected, to reduce automated sign-ups.
6. Ramadan 2027 dates
The expected start is around 8 February 2027. The real start depends on moon sighting and can move. We expect to confirm the start by email before Day 1. A date shown on the website before that confirmation is an expectation, not a promise that the challenge has already begun.
7. Daily challenges
This registration website does not yet offer the daily questions. The plan for Ramadan 2027 is one Islamic knowledge challenge a day. A question may be unavailable if the service is interrupted, and the set of subjects can change before launch.
Animated scenes on the homepage show the kind of experience we are building. They are not live questions, and they are not your results.
8. Scoring and leaderboards
We do not currently collect answers, scores or leaderboard places. If rankings are added, they are for enjoyment and motivation. They are not the point of the challenge, and they are not a measure of faith or scholarship.
Fairness, once scoring exists, depends on one registration per email address and on not creating extra accounts to climb a board. Invitation counts only include people who have verified their email. The public “joined” number on the homepage counts verified registrations. It is configured so that number is not padded with invented sign-ups.
Names, scores and ranks shown in homepage previews are illustrative. They are not real participant results.
9. Errors and disputes
A question, answer, explanation, score or ranking can be wrong. We may correct content, restore a result, or remove a result that came from a fault or from misuse. There is no separate dispute desk on this website today. If a correction process is added, we will describe it.
A technical interruption can delay a question or a message. We will try to put it right, but we do not promise that every day will be delivered without a gap.
10. Educational limits
The challenge is general learning. It is not a fatwa, personal religious advice, or a replacement for a qualified scholar, teacher or institution. Do not rely on a question or a score as a ruling for your own situation.
11. Sources and differences of opinion
Questions may draw on the Qur’an, hadith and other recognised material. Scholars and schools of thought do not always agree. A reference shown with a question is there to help you look further. It is not a claim that every scholar gives the same answer, and it is not a guarantee that a particular wording is free of error.
We want corrections when something is wrong. Email them to testtheummah@gmail.com. We read those messages, though we cannot promise a reply to every suggestion.
12. Acceptable conduct
Please use the website for the challenge and for genuine registration. You must not:
- create extra accounts to manipulate a ranking, a public count or an invitation count;
- use bots or scripts to register or, later, to answer questions;
- interfere with the site, other people’s registrations, or the email verification process;
- share someone else’s personal information through the service.
13. Invitations
After you verify, you receive a personal invitation link. If someone registers through that link, we store that they were invited by you. The count you see is the number of people who completed email verification. It is not a prize, and it does not change anyone’s future score.
On your welcome page you see that number. You do not see the email addresses of the people who joined. Administrators can export registration records, which include who invited whom, for operating the challenge.
14. Prizes and rewards
There are no guaranteed prizes, cash rewards, or competition winnings. Taking part, inviting others, or appearing in any future ranking does not earn a prize. If a reward is ever offered, it will be announced separately, with its own conditions. Nothing on this website currently announces one.
15. Optional contributions
Any contribution towards the cost of Test the Ummah is optional. You can register and take part without paying anything. This website does not take card details and does not run its own checkout.
Where a GoFundMe campaign is linked, the contribution is completed on GoFundMe under GoFundMe’s own terms. Suggested amounts on our support page are examples, not a bill. The support page describes the intended use, including hosting, reaching more people, and keeping the challenge free. We have not published a set of audited accounts on this website.
Test the Ummah is not a registered charity. Contributions are not eligible for Gift Aid.
16. External services
We use other people’s services to run this website. Email is sent through Resend when that mailer is configured. The site and its database are hosted on the operator’s web server. Optional contributions, if you choose to make one, happen on GoFundMe. If you use Share on Facebook, that share opens Facebook and uses the public homepage address. We do not send your registration record to Facebook for that button.
Those organisations have their own terms and privacy notices. We are not responsible for how they run their services, beyond choosing them for the role described in the Privacy Notice.
17. Intellectual property
The Test the Ummah name, the website design, and the challenge text we publish are protected. You may link to the site, share your invitation link, and use the challenge for your own learning. Please do not copy the site or a question bank to run a competing service, and do not remove authorship or source notes.
You keep your own name and the other details you submit, subject to the Privacy Notice.
18. Suspension and misuse
There is no participant password on this registration site. Access to verification and to your invitation link depends on your email and on a short-lived session after you register.
We may refuse, limit or stop a registration that breaks these terms, creates duplicate accounts, attacks the service, or misuses someone else’s information. We will keep that response proportionate. There is no in-website appeal form today.
19. Availability and changes
We may change, pause or withdraw parts of the website, including the timing of the daily challenge. Features described as planned for Ramadan 2027 are not all available on this registration site now. We may fix mistakes in questions, pages and emails.
20. Liability
The challenge is free and educational. We do not guarantee that every question, date or message is accurate or uninterrupted.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that the law says cannot be excluded. Rights you have as a consumer, and rights under data-protection law, remain in force.
We are not liable for a religious, personal or financial decision you make solely because of a question, score or homepage illustration. We are not liable for GoFundMe, for an email that a provider fails to deliver, or for loss of a free service, except where the law does not allow that limit.
21. Changes to these terms
The version and date at the top of this page are the terms currently published. When you register, we store the terms version configured for the site and the time you accepted it. This text is version 2.0.
If we change these terms in a material way, we will update this page with a new version and date. We do not have an automatic email that announces every wording change. If a change significantly affects how you take part, we expect to say so in an essential challenge email where we reasonably can. The acceptance record already stored for you stays as it was.
22. Law and contact
These terms are intended to be governed by the law of England and Wales. If a mandatory law in your country gives you rights that cannot be overridden, those rights still apply. You may bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales, unless a law gives you the right to bring it in your home courts.
For a general enquiry, support, or a question about these terms, email testtheummah@gmail.com. How we handle personal information is explained in the Privacy Notice.
